How to practice gratitude.
On this day, 16 years ago , I was a newly married 26 year old on a one way flight to the windy city.
I left the only place I knew to start a new life with a man from the south side of Chicago who I met online and subsequently married.
Ironically, on this day, 11 years ago, I gave birth to our first born Neriah. In fact, she’s the reason behind many of my creative and entrepreneurial endeavors.
Before it was named charlotteabetts[dot]com - it was “milk n honee” and served as the online destination for new moms, and a digital diary where I documented my journey into motherhood.
As I sit here typing this, my heart is filled with gratitude.
Gratitude is a powerful emotion that can have a profound impact on our lives. In a world that encourages us to move at lightning speed, I admonish you to slow down acknowledge and appreciate the good things in your life, whether big or small.
When we practice gratitude, we shift our focus from what we lack to what we have.
Below, I’m sharing 4 ways that have helped me practice thankfulness.
Keep a gratitude journal.
Express your gratitude to others.
Practice mindfulness.
Use visual reminders.
In addition to the small things, I am thankful for a big God, who orchestrated this entire thing.
Those of you who know me personally, know the struggles I’ve had when it comes to motherhood. I’ve shared some of it here.
As we celebrate 11 years of mommy hood with our big girl Neriah, the lyrics to Nathaniel Bassey’s song come to mind.
See what the Lord has done
See what the Lord has done
What we've waited for, has come to pass
See what the Lord has doneSee what the Lord has done
Can you see what the Lord has done?
What we've waited for, has come to pass
See what the Lord has done
I pray you find at least one reason to be grateful today.
Creatively yours,
Charlotte
